First time trying, not the last time buying :) A great holiday treat!
“All beers are not created equal.
While Thomas Jefferson spent much of his time in Philadelphia drafting, editing, revising, and re-editing the Declaration of Independence, he longed to be home in Monticello, where twice a year his wife Martha would brew up one of his favorite beverages — beer.
Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale™ is a strong golden ale, based on Jefferson’s original recipe, which included ingredients specified and grown on his Virginia estate.
Enjoy a taste of history, courtesy of Yards Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s premier brewer and bottler.”

Just another day off
So it’s been quite some time since my last post, but some exciting things have been happening! New place, new job, and last but not least a renewed and re-focused love for all things food. I just started training as a sushi chef and was not surprised to find that it is a relatively intense process. That being said, my days off typically include trips to the store, organizing the new apartment, exploring the area, and catching up on some serious relaxation. We recently ate at a restaurant for eventfullyash’s birthday however, that completely rejuvenated my culinary passion. As a result of our delightful meal, I’ve been consumed lately with coming up with new projects and ideas for how to better utilize my time in a more dedicated and delicious way. My most recent project took shape in the form of an Amberjack Steak, a 10 pound pork shoulder and some beautiful golden beets.

Amberjack pan seared with lemon juice and sea salt. Breakfast of champions.

Roasted golden beets: Pre-pickled state

Roasted golden beets: Post-pickled state. Pickled in Apple Cider Vinegar, Orange Blossom Honey, & Dried Red Chilies

Pork shoulder! Marinated overnight with a garlic paste, braised in orange marmalade & tomato, crisped in the broiler with brown sugar and sea salt. Ridiculously good.
It was a busy 8 hours as you can see, but the fruits of my labor are still keeping us full to this day! I’m back on track and it feels good to be up and running again. You’ll be hearing from me a lot more in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled, your mind open, and have a drool rag at the ready!

What is it about chicken wings that makes you want a delicious microbrew. Or wait…is it the other way around? Either way!
